It’s that time of year again; the leaves are about to change, the kids are going back to school and a chill is right around the corner. While fall is one of our favorite times of the year here at My World Registry, it can be hectic and stressful. Before old man winter arrives on your doorstep, take a moment to pamper yourself and get relaxed. Here are FIVE untraditional spa experiences to prepare yourself for the craziness of fall.

1. Reiki

Reiki is an ancient healing method. A reiki therapist specializes in channeling his or her own positive energy into you. It’s also known as energy healing. Picture yourself laying down, with your eyes closed, and healing music playing in the background. Your reiki specialist will either hover their hands just over your body or some will actually lay their palms on you. Fans of reiki say that they feel deep relaxation.

2. Next level facial with Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese healing method that’s especially useful for people living with chronic pain. The treatment consists of a specialist scraping a tool along the skin of the face to promote blood flow.
“Working the lymphatic system with a tool that releases stagnation allows for lymphatic flow,” says Bella Martinez, a holistic health practitioner, and Gua Sha specialist. “It also acts as a myofascial release of the face muscles, releasing a lot of tension or accumulated tensions. There are different stones for different healing and metaphysical properties.”

3. Grounding through aromatherapy

This is the perfect spa session for someone who is feeling in a rut. Aromatherapists say they use plant essences to awaken consciousness, at a deeper level.
Elyse Williams, an aromatherapist and herbalist, says: “Because the sense of smell is the ONLY way to access the limbic system, the part of the brain where emotional memories are stored, along with other key brain structures that regulate autonomic processes like heart rate and blood pressure, this is a powerful practice to initiate healing change at the deepest levels in our being, aligning profoundly the body, mind, and spirit.”

4. Customized Ayurveda

“The connection between our mind, body, and spirit is one that is kept in balance with Ayurveda,” says Ayurveda specialist Karuna DiLibero.
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian healing technique and way of life. In this one-of-a-kind session, you will learn how everything in your life is connected and how that impacts your health and happiness from what you eat to what you think.

5. Dien Chan Zone facial

What is Dien Chan Zone you might ask? Our in-house facial reflexologist, Bella Martinez, says it’s a Facial Reflexology modality from Vietnam that was adapted and refined to Western culture. It incorporates Traditional Chinese Medicine and treats symptoms in the body by stimulating zones in the face. If you’re feeling an imbalance of any kind, this is the spa treatment for you.
“The facial reflexology treatments are deeply nourishing and offer incredible, often, immediate results,” says Martinez.
